Hilton Puts a Claude Connector on Its Roadmap as It Wires Into Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic All at Once

Hilton launched Hilton AI Planner and confirmed integrations with Google's AI Mode, a ChatGPT plugin, and an in-development Claude Connector — embedding itself directly across the three major AI assistant ecosystems for hotel discovery and booking.

Hilton is building itself into three separate AI assistant ecosystems at once rather than betting on one. The centerpiece of its new platform announcement is Hilton AI Planner, a conversational trip-planning tool now live on desktop and rolling out inside the Hilton Honors App. Alongside it, Hilton confirmed integration with Google’s AI Mode — letting travelers search with prompts like “Show me hotels in San Diego I can book with Hilton Honors Points” — a ChatGPT plugin for exploring Hilton properties built with OpenAI, and a Claude Connector currently in development with Anthropic that will surface property images, details, and pricing directly inside Claude conversations. The announcement also bundles guest-facing technology already underway: mobile check-in and room selection through the Honors app, Digital Key access, Connected Room device controls, and in-app messaging for support. SVP and CIO Michael Leidinger called it developing “experiences that create more seamless journeys.”

The move puts Hilton alongside Choice Hotels, which became an early launch partner for the same Google AI Mode booking feature a day earlier — travelers describe trip preferences conversationally and get side-by-side comparisons with photos, rates, and reviews, with bookings completing via Google Pay while Choice stays merchant of record. Choice’s Chief Data, AI & Technology Officer Anna Scozzafava framed it plainly: “travel discovery is evolving rapidly, and Choice Hotels is actively shaping what comes next.” Two major chains committing to the same integration within 48 hours of each other signals this isn’t an experiment either brand can walk back easily.

For operators without Hilton’s or Choice’s platform budget, the read is structural: the largest brands are moving from “discoverable by AI” to “embedded in AI,” across all three major assistants simultaneously — not just Google, which most hospitality AI coverage has focused on to date. Where a smaller property’s inventory and rate data live, and how cleanly it can be surfaced to an assistant it doesn’t control, is now the more urgent question than which single AI channel to prioritize.
